Many have asked the question, Can I Make Money on My Web Site or
Blog?
The answer to that question is yes....no....and maybe.
Why the cryptic answer? Well, the truth is that some make a good bit of
money from their sites and others make a few bucks and still others don't
make a penny at all.  So what is a web or blog publisher to do?

A great resource for finding info on starting up a website and how to be
successful at it, I suggest visiting
2createawebsite.com . The publisher,
Lisa Erby, shares lots of great information about how to set up your site.
The do's and the don'ts that can help you get through the creation phase.
Lisa also gives some guidance on how to
monetize (make money) from
your site or blog.

There are many affiliates you can get signed up with and place
their ads on your site. Depending on what type of affiliates you
choose, you
get paid when someone either clicks on the ads,
signs up for something free or makes a purchase of something
that your affiliate has for sale. For a great listing of affiliates
that can help you to earn money,

Once you have created your site and have gotten affiliates set up, the next
step is to get
TRAFFIC. That is, visitors to your site. If no one sees your
site, obviously you aren't going to earn any money.  Try some of these:
* Submit your site to search engines
* Sign up for
Twitter/Facebook/MySpace
* Send emails to all your family and friends letting them know of your new
site
* Find other sites/blogs that are similar in nature to yours. Leave a
thoughtful comment and a link back to your site.
* Visit and sign up with forums that are related to your sites topic. Leave
thoughtful postings and again, leave a link to your site.
* For your blog, include great words as your post titles. This helps with
search engine recognitions.
* Create a widget of you blogs. This helps to rank your site. Go to

widgetbox.com
.
To see my widget, visit the home page and look to the far right. You will
see a widget of my recent blog postings. These are just a few of the ways to
get other's to notice your sites.

The most important tip is to have great content on your site or blog. If the
information on you site is not up to par, then anyone who visits, simply
won't return. And certainly won't share the site with others. With that
said, you really need to have a focus your site. Have a main theme and find
your niche. What are your interests, what do you know about. Use those
ideas to create your site.
